Kyrkans SOS is a Swedish nonprofit organization offering compassionate, anonymous support to people experiencing loneliness, mental distress, suicidal thoughts, or other difficult life situations. Founded by the Church of Sweden, it has supported people through conversations since 1971 and became an independent organization in 2018. It remains close to the Church of Sweden while welcoming people of all ethnicities, beliefs, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
Its support services are available through telephone calls, chats, and digital letters. Dedicated lines serve the general public, LGBTQIA+ people and their loved ones, young people aged 12–25, and Sámi people across Sápmi. Most support-line responders are selected and trained volunteers who offer their time without pay; the Nätvandrarchatten is staffed by Church of Sweden parish employees trained and supported by Kyrkans SOS.
The organization also provides courses, webinars, and informational materials, and invites people to volunteer, donate, become ambassadors, or partner as a congregation.
