Narrenzunft Lachende Kuh Isny e.V. is a carnival association based in Isny, dedicated to keeping the local Fasnet tradition alive and bringing the community together through seasonal celebrations. Its history reaches back to 1880, when Isny carnival enthusiasts formed the Faschingsgesellschaft Narhalla. The first parade organized by the Narrenzunft took place in 1961, and the association was officially founded at the Gasthaus Ochsen on November 11, 1963.
The name “Lachende Kuh,” or “Laughing Cow,” comes from a local story about a court case in which tourists complained about the everyday sound of cowbells. After the complaint was dismissed, the cows were said to have rejoiced and laughed. The group’s Fasnet activities include the carnival parade in Isny on Shrove Tuesday, known as Fasnetdienstag, and the Narrensprung. The association shares information about Fasnet in Isny, events and dates, its history, membership, applications, and costs. Its website also introduces figures associated with the group, including the Kuh, Stallhex, and Treiber.
