Our history dates back to 1918 when the Lafitte family established the first cork factory in Toulouse, France.

In the late 50s, Lafitte Cork relocated its headquarters to Portugal, allowing us to have unmatched control over the raw materials and ensure exceptional quality. In 2020, Lafitte Bartop was born through the acquisition of RCP International, a leading manufacturer of t-top stoppers or bar-top stoppers. We are committed to sustainability and work closely with suppliers to promote sustainable practices in our supply chain.

All our cork comes from The Montado, the Mediterranean cork oak forests in Portugal. These forests, known for their rich biodiversity, play a crucial role in preserving the environment. The cork oak presents a voluminous bark that is stripped carefully, allowing the tree to regenerate and live for up to 200 years.

Cork is nature's holy grail - 100% natural, sustainable, and environmentally friendly. Each cork stopper retains approximately 309g of CO2 and can be reused or recycled. We aim to preserve the Montado forests, which contribute to the hydrological cycle, water quality, soil conservation, oxygen production, and retention of CO2.

Quality is our top priority, and we ensure impeccable cork stoppers through technologies like PerfectGO, which tests for TCA levels, MaxClean Evolution for sterilization and deodorization, and LD21 to verify tightness.
