Lahout's Ski Shop is not just your average ski shop - it is a brand with a rich history and a true passion for skiing and outdoor recreation. The story began in 1898 when Herbert Lahout, a fourteen-year-old Lebanese immigrant, arrived in the United States. Fast forward to 1920, Herbert and his wife Anne started selling goods from a horse and wagon as well as the old Grange Hall in Littleton, New Hampshire.

Their dedication and hard work paid off, and Lahout's Ski Shop soon became a household name. Joe Lahout, one of their sons, took over the family business during the Great Depression when he was just twelve years old. As a teenager, Joe developed a love for the sport of skiing, which eventually led him to participate in some of the earliest organized ski races in New England.

After serving in World War II, Joe returned home to continue growing the business and nurturing his passion for skiing. He wanted to make skiing accessible and affordable for families in the North Country, and his mission was to outfit children with the necessary gear to enjoy the sport for a lifetime. During the 1950s and 1960s, skiing and outdoor recreation boomed in popularity, with locals and visitors flocking to the slopes of Cannon Mountain, Loon Mountain, Bretton Woods, and Waterville Valley.

However, skiing became increasingly expensive, especially for children. Joe's dedication to providing affordable gear and equipment led to Lahout's Ski Shop becoming a go-to destination for families. In the early 1980s, Joe's sons Joe Jr, Ron, and Herb joined the business, expanding it further.

Today, Lahout's Ski Shop has eight locations in Littleton and Lincoln, New Hampshire, including specialty concept stores featuring renowned brands like North Face®, Patagonia®, Under Armour®, Columbia®, and Life Is Good®. Nestled near the White Mountain National Forest and Pemigewasset Wilderness, as well as nearby alpine resorts, Lahout's Ski Shop is perfectly situated to serve outdoor enthusiasts.
