Lāhui Studio is an architecture practice shaped by the intersection of Los Angeles and Hawaiʻi. Its name reflects a Hawaiian understanding of community as a collective formed through shared identity, memory, and purpose—an outlook that informs the studio’s relationship with people and place. The team approaches architecture as a response to a site, listening to its land, buildings, climate, culture, and patterns of use before shaping a design.
Its work emphasizes honest form, careful craft, clear details, and materials such as wood, steel, and concrete used for their inherent qualities. Lāhui Studio also treats constraints, including budget, code, and conventional building systems, as opportunities to make thoughtful decisions and achieve durable, efficient results. Designs prioritize how people move through, inhabit, and remember a space, with attention to light, air, flexibility, and long-term use.
