Laini Fluellen Charities is a nonprofit organization founded in 2009 by breast cancer survivors and their loved ones. Based in Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland, their mission is to improve outcomes for individuals diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), with a focus on young women, particularly Black and Hispanic women who are at a higher risk. The organization raises funds to support TNBC research, advocating for more studies in local hospitals.
In their first ten years, they have raised over $200,000, enabling the development of five new TNBC research studies and clinical trials. They also subsidize mammograms for uninsured or underinsured individuals, as early detection is crucial for TNBC patients' survival. Laini Fluellen Charities provides spiritual and educational support through seminars, awareness campaigns, and online resources.
They also collaborate with local hospitals to provide tools and care coordination materials to help patients navigate the treatment process. By sharing stories of survivors and recognizing medical practitioners and advocates, they raise awareness and inspire hope in the fight against TNBC. Their aim is to expand their organization's influence throughout the Midwest and advocate for national accessibility to TNBC research and early detection.
