LaiQa is an innovative research and technology initiative focused on the development of critical components and systems for a global space-based quantum network. This ambitious project aims to make unconditionally secure quantum communications over long distances a reality by integrating functional Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) components with advanced system integration techniques. LaiQa's consortium, comprising eight partners from five European countries, includes academic institutions, scientific organizations, SMEs, and an industrial aerospace entity, fostering strong synergy from the outset.

The consortium features notable partners like the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), and TNO, alongside SMEs such as QTLABS and QSSYS. These collaborations enhance the project's capacity to push the boundaries of quantum technology and communication security. The LaiQa project represents a significant leap forward in critical space technologies, with the potential to transform secure communication methods across vast distances, benefiting both public and private sectors worldwide.
