Lakes Area Flight Instruction

Lakes Area Flight Instruction is a flight training provider based at 24813 US-10 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. The company offers personalized instruction in a professional, supportive environment, with an emphasis on safety, effective learning, and helping students become confident, capable pilots. Its training is suited to people beginning their aviation journey as well as pilots seeking to advance their skills.

Services include discovery flights, flight training, and aircraft rental. A 30-minute discovery flight gives newcomers a hands-on introduction to flying alongside a certified instructor and costs $100; the fee is refunded upon completion of a second lesson if training continues. Flight training supports students pursuing a Private Pilot License, Instrument Rating, or Commercial Pilot certification, combining a structured syllabus with flexible, self-paced online ground school. Qualified pilots can rent the company’s aircraft for $160 per hour, wet.

Instruction is provided by owner and lead CFI Justin Wetli and CFI Jeremy Alvarez. The featured training aircraft is a Piper Cherokee 140, equipped with dual Garmin G5 displays and a GTN 650XI.
