About Lakhanda Radio
Lakhanda, also known as Voice of Lanka, is a renowned Sri Lankan radio station that has been entertaining and informing listeners since its establishment on 15 November 1996. Originally under the ownership of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Lakhanda later merged with ITN (Independent Television Network) on 1 April 1997, as per a government cabinet decision. The station broadcasts on frequencies 88.
5 FM, 87. 9 FM, and 97. 6 FM from various locations including Yatiyanthota, Karagahatenna, Bandarawela, Deniyaya, and Colombo.
As the radio wing of ITN, Lakhanda caters specifically to Sinhala-speaking audiences across Sri Lanka. Its transmission commences daily at 04:30 hrs. Offering a diverse range of programs, Lakhanda covers news and current affairs, politics, sports, education, culture, health, women's issues, economics, and music.
