La Madrilera | Madrid

La Madrilera is a non-profit theater association dedicated to unleashing our passion for theater. It is an open space for anyone with an artistic project to showcase. On weekends, we have performances open to members.

If you want to join, simply attend a show and ask us. Some of these performances are showcases of the work done by our members, while others are contributions from associates and close individuals displaying their own work. Our focus is mainly on textual theater, but we are open to poetry, storytelling, clowning, musicals, performance art, improvisation, stand-up comedy, dance, live painting, and any other non-amplified performative activity (out of respect for our neighbors).

We have a unique venue in the heart of Madrid - Malasaña. We also offer theater interpretation, voice, singing, and dance courses for those who want to step onto the stage or continue their training as actors, whether amateur or professional. All activities at La Madrilera are done purely for the love of art, with no fees involved.

Our association was established in June 1997 under the name Matadero tr3s teatro, as our first headquarters were located on Matadero Street. It was created by members of several theater groups from the Polytechnic University of Madrid who wanted to continue pursuing their passion for theater after completing their studies. In January 1998, we relocated to our current premises on Don Felipe Street.

In October 2009, with the rehabilitation of the former Legazpi slaughterhouse as a cultural space, we decided to change our name to La Madrilera. We are a group of dedicated individuals who are passionate about theater. If you are interested in what we do, want to participate in our theater productions, or showcase your own work, don't hesitate to contact us.

We are friendly and responsive!
