About La Mortella
Giardini La Mortella is a stunning Mediterranean and subtropical garden created in 1956 by Susana Walton, the Argentine wife of English composer Sir William Walton. Located in Forio, on the island of Ischia, the garden, designed by Russell Page, is regarded as one of Italy's most beautiful private gardens. It consists of two parts: a lower garden in the valley and an upper garden on the hill, terraced with dry stone walls.
Open from April to October, Giardini La Mortella offers a unique botanical experience, showcasing a diverse range of plants and enchanting landscapes. In addition to the serene natural beauty, the garden hosts musical events, including chamber music recitals in spring and autumn, and symphonic concerts in the summer at the Greek Theatre on Thursdays.
