Lampegat is the name Eindhoven takes on during carnival, when the city centre becomes a lively festival destination for residents and visitors. The celebration is organised by Stichting Federatie Eindhovens Carnaval and brings together Lampegatse associations, venues and carnival-goers for several days of music, performances and community festivities. Its programme is designed for all ages, with events across the city’s squares, streets, pubs and festival tents.

Popular locations include Stratumseind, Wilhelminaplein, the Markt and Stadhuisplein, as well as venues such as the Salon op het Plein, Tent op de Mèr t, In d’n Schuur and the Bavaria Bierhal. Visitors can also watch the carnival procession, discover local songs and meet the city’s carnival associations. Each season features a Stadsprins, accompanied by court members, who leads the celebrations.

Lampegat’s website provides event listings and practical visitor information, including transport, lockers, cup policies and hearing protection. It also shares carnival history, photographs, music and updates, and invites organisers to submit local events for publication
