Lance Winery is a family-run winery located in St Andrews, in Victoria’s Yarra Valley wine region, on the outskirts of Melbourne. David and Catherine Lance founded the winery in 1975 after finding a north-facing vineyard site suited to growing quality grapes. They planted the first vines in 1976, guided by a simple aim: to produce ripe grapes with distinctive varietal character and handcraft them into elegant wines.
The winery’s first vintage arrived in 1980, and its Diamond Valley wines earned awards and recognition before the brand was sold in 2005. The vineyard and winery remained with the Lance family, with their son James and his wife Claire taking over operations. The website features wines under the Jeffrey Eagle name, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, alongside other wine offerings.
