Laois Education Support Centre

Laois Education Support Centre is an independent statutory education support organisation serving schools and education communities across its defined area in County Laois. Directly funded by the Department of Education and Skills, the Centre works with the Department and national, regional and local partners to respond to the needs of learners, schools and the wider education system. Its purpose-built facility in Portlaoise offers a welcoming setting for professional and personal development, with convenient access to the town and the N7.

The Centre provides a varied programme of support, training and continuing professional development for teachers, school management, parents and other members of school communities. Its online course catalogue includes offerings for primary and post-primary educators, special needs assistants, ICT, and online and seasonal programmes. It also organises local delivery of national professional development initiatives and promotes educational projects and resources. Serving 123 primary and 31 post-primary schools and approximately 2,500 teachers, Laois Education Support Centre enables participants to browse courses, register and book online, and access information about facilities, publications, news and events.
