About La ONG
La ONG, a cultural space and self-managed virtual project, combines various art-related activities such as workshops, gatherings, and exhibitions. Established by Nelson Garrido in 2002 and later directed by Gala Garrido from 2010 onwards, this initiative operated in Caracas, Venezuela, from 2002 to 2022. Functioning as a liberated space focused on poetic terrorism, La ONG facilitated artistic practices independently and radically for two decades.
Acting as a rhizome, it continuously evolved without a defined beginning or end, embodying a decentralized and non-hierarchical structure. The initiative offered an annual academic program for photographers and visual artists, hosted multiple exhibitions, and served as a digital platform for international artists. La ONG advocated for minority voices and supported diverse creative expressions, nurturing a community dedicated to promoting a culture free of harassment and respecting individual integrity.
