ラオスフェスティバル

Laos Festival is a Japan-based cultural event dedicated to strengthening friendship between Japan and Laos and introducing Lao culture to a wider audience. Launched in 2007, it grew from long-standing educational and cultural exchange activities connected with school-building projects in Laos. Organized by the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Sakura International High School Tokyo, and the festival committee, the event has become one of Japan’s largest Laos-related festivals.

The 2026 festival took place on May 23 and 24 at Yoyogi Park Event Plaza in Tokyo and has now concluded. Its program brought together Lao and Japanese artists for traditional dance, music, and stage performances, alongside parades inspired by Laos’s rocket festival. Visitors could enjoy Lao food and drinks, including Beerlao, browse Lao crafts, and learn about the country through cultural demonstrations, language lessons, and participating organizations’ activities. Family attractions included children’s activities, while an eco-station and volunteer-led environmental efforts supported a cleaner event. The festival offers visitors an accessible, day-trip introduction to Laos and its culture.
