LAPD Cadets is a youth program associated with the Los Angeles Police Department, offering young people opportunities to develop leadership, discipline, and an understanding of law enforcement and community service. Its programs include the Cadet Leadership Academy, junior cadets, and other youth activities, with information available about upcoming classes, locations, and cadet rosters.

The academy welcomes applicants ages 13 to 17 and guides recruits through structured training that combines physical fitness with classroom learning. Activities include orientation to academy expectations and grooming standards, lessons on decision-making and family relationships, and physical fitness assessments that help recruits track their progress. The program also marks cadets’ achievements through class graduations and leadership experiences. Beyond academy classes, cadets have participated in opportunities such as the Devil Pups Youth Program for America at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and events with USC’s GEMS program. Through training, partnerships, and youth programming, LAPD Cadets provides a setting for young people to build skills, meet peers, and explore service-oriented opportunities.
