Lappeenrannan Insinööriopiskelijat LapIO ry is a student association representing engineering students at LAB University of Applied Sciences’ Lappeenranta technology unit. Established in 1983, the association is also a local organization under the Finnish Union of Engineering Students, Insinööriopiskelijaliitto IOL ry. LapIO’s purpose is to advance its members’ intellectual, professional, social and related interests, with a particular focus on engineering education, engineering student culture and preparation for working life.
The association brings together students connected by their engineering studies and provides a recognized local community within the wider engineering student organization. Its stated areas of interest reflect both academic and professional development, as well as the social experience of student life. Membership is open to students in the technology programs at the Lappeenranta campus who also belong to the Finnish Union of Engineering Students.
