Lara Guide Dog School is a pioneering institution in Greece, established in 2008 by Ioanna-Maria Gertsou, the first blind guide dog handler in the country, inspired by her own guide dog Lara. This non-profit civil partnership aims to empower visually impaired individuals by providing them with trained guide dogs. These dogs undergo extensive positive reinforcement training, starting as puppies and eventually becoming indispensable companions to their handlers.

The school also offers Mobility & orientation classes with white canes for those in rural areas. Supported by sponsors and donors, Lara Guide Dog School operates under the guidance of its dedicated administrative council. As a proud member of the European Guide Dog Federation, the school upholds high standards in training and care, ensuring that visually impaired individuals can navigate the world confidently with their trusted guide dogs by their side
