Lar Esperança

Lar Esperança is a nonprofit charitable social assistance institution in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, dedicated to supporting older people who are vulnerable or without adequate support. The project began with entrepreneur Marcio Rocha da Freiria, its first president, whose concern for older people inspired him to create a home for those in need. He later invited his brother, Paulo, to help establish the organization.

Lar Esperança aims to improve residents’ quality of life through material, moral, and spiritual support, while fostering well-being, social connection, and integration. Its listed offerings include 24-hour security, nutrition services, and entertainment. The institution also shares updates and community stories through its blog and photo gallery, and provides transparency information about its work.

Community members can help through monetary donations or contributions of cleaning and personal hygiene supplies, including detergent, soap, disinfectant, bleach, liquid soap, and shampoo. Donations can be made by bank transfer or online payment, and a credentialed staff member can collect them by arrangement.
