Light & Salt Ministries Nicaragua, also known as LASM, is a mission-based organization founded by Tara Germain and her husband, Alex Casco. Their passion is to serve disadvantaged children and families in Dario City, Matagalpa, Nicaragua. The ministry takes a holistic approach to address the issues of poverty, abuse, and dysfunction that affect many individuals in Nicaragua.

They offer a comprehensive program that includes educational activities, providing basic necessities like food and clothing, and imparting Christian faith teachings. Currently, LASM operates three programs. The Infantil Tary Kids Program and The Warriors of Christ Program focus on boys aged 7-18 who come from extreme poverty-stricken homes.

These programs provide support in the form of meals, assistance with school studies, mentorship, and various activities such as arts, sports, and field trips. The Pure Religion Program is a mercy-based relief effort that specifically serves the most vulnerable members of Dario City, including the elderly, widowed, and abandoned. This program aims to provide practical help such as food, clothing, medical care, shelter, and education.

Additionally, it offers training to empower individuals to break the cycle of poverty and become self-sustainable. LASM is a registered non-profit organization in Canada and operates with the support of a board of trustees. With their dedication and the generous support of donors, LASM is making a significant impact in the lives of those they serve in Nicaragua
