Latasha Harlins Foundation

The Latasha Harlins Foundation is a community-focused nonprofit established in 1992 and reorganized in 2020 to honor Latasha Harlins, a Los Angeles student whose life and future were cut short at age 15. Guided by her legacy, the foundation works to empower low-income families, strengthen community connections, and help students pursue their educational goals. Its programs include scholarships and educational resources to support expenses such as tuition, books, fees, and transportation.

The foundation also aims to connect families with local programming, services, and community support, while developing initiatives focused on family wellbeing, student leadership, and social justice. Its stated values include equity, inclusion, collaboration, and building stronger communities. The organization is developing additional nonprofit services, including a Mental Health Wellness Program, and describes community outreach as part of its work to foster positive change.
