Laurie H. Smith is an interior designer, author, speaker, and television personality known for bringing modern classic design to a broad audience. She first appeared on TLC’s Trading Spaces in 1999, designing rooms under tight 48-hour deadlines across ten seasons; the show earned an Emmy nomination. She also returned for the series’ 2018 reboot and its subsequent season.

Based in Atlanta, Smith offers full-service consultations and virtual design through DesignSmith Interiors. Her work extends beyond interior design services to product collections and public education. These include a fabric line of 40 patterns, the Illuminations lighting collection developed with Quoizel, and a tile-design campaign with Atlas Concorde USA. She lectures at home and garden shows nationwide and has represented brands including Lane Home Furnishings and vipHomeLink.

Smith’s 2005 book, Discovering Home: Find Your Personal Style, shares her renovation and design process and offers guidance for shaping living spaces. Her television appearances include The View and The Today Show, and her work has been featured in numerous home and lifestyle publications.
