About Département Vendée
Vendée Vélo is the cycling discovery initiative of the Vendée Departmental Council, promoting bicycle travel across the diverse landscapes of the Vendée region in France. Supported by years of investment in cycling infrastructure, the network is designed to make exploring the area comfortable and safe for a wide range of visitors, from sports cyclists to casual riders and families. Routes lead through coastal areas, the Marais Poitevin, forests and bocage countryside, with options suited to different interests and abilities.
The website helps visitors find cycling circuits and plan their rides. It provides practical guidance on preparing for a safe and enjoyable outing, including information about route signage, types of cycle paths and recommended conduct. Visitors can also consult the Vendée Vélo guide, which features 79 cycling routes and 29 loops across the department. Additional resources cover national long-distance cycling routes, travelling to Vendée by train and the Accueil Vélo welcome label.
