The Law Society of Northern Ireland is a professional body established in 1922 with the aim of protecting the public and maintaining the high ethical and professional standards of the solicitors' profession in Northern Ireland. As the regulatory authority, the Law Society governs the education, accounts, discipline, and professional conduct of solicitors. With approximately 2,300 practicing solicitors in Northern Ireland, the Law Society ensures the independence, professional competence, and quality of services offered to the public.

The Society operates through an elected Council of 30 members, consisting of practicing solicitors who serve on a voluntary basis. This Council is guided by the Presidential and Chief Executive Team. Any solicitor whose name is on the Roll of Solicitors in Northern Ireland and is not suspended may become a member of the Law Society.

The Law Society also collaborates with local Solicitor Associations and Groups, providing support on key issues of concern to the profession. They work together to ensure the interests of solicitors and the public are protected.
