Lawyers for Climate Action NZ is a brand made up of legal experts who share a mission to ensure effective action against climate change in New Zealand. Comprised of barristers, solicitors, and legal academics from all over the country, they bring specialist expertise in various areas of the law. Recognizing the scientific evidence, they understand that climate change will lead to global catastrophe unless emissions are reduced immediately, with the goal of achieving zero net carbon emissions by 2050.

Their belief is that New Zealand can and should play a larger role in the global fight against climate change. Lawyers for Climate Action NZ aims to ensure that New Zealand fulfills its obligations under the Paris Agreement in a manner that is evidence-based, effective, and consistent with the rule of law, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, international law, and the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act. As a registered charity, Lawyers for Climate Action NZ offers legal assistance to community groups and individuals who require support in addressing the threat of climate change through reduced fee or pro bono services.
