LAZ Giessen

LAZ Gießen Stadt und Land is a regional athletics organization formed by eleven sports clubs in and around Gießen. It brings athletes together for talent development, training and competitive sport, with activities spanning sprinting, jumping, combined events and middle-distance running. The organization supports participation at local and higher-level competitions, and its athletes have achieved success in Hesse and across Germany.

LAZ Gießen also organizes athletics events, including track meetings and the traditional Sparkasse Gießen Silvesterlauf. The annual road race offers a children’s event, 5 km and 10 km courses, and a half marathon; walkers and Nordic walkers can join the 5 km and 10 km routes. The event combines community sport with charitable giving, directing donated entry fees and fundraising to social and community organizations.

Through partnerships with sponsors and local organizations, LAZ Gießen supports its athletes and events. Its activities include training groups, club and association coordination, and public information about competitions and race routes.
