The Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) is an association of the leaders of congregations of Catholic women religious in the United States. With a membership of nearly 1300 members, LCWR represents approximately 67 percent of the approximately 35,000 women religious in the country. Established in 1956, the conference plays a crucial role in assisting its members to collaboratively carry out their service of leadership in order to further the mission of the Gospel in today's world.

LCWR's scope of concerns is extensive and includes collaborating in Catholic church and societal efforts that influence systemic change, studying significant trends and issues within the church and society, utilizing their corporate voice in solidarity with people experiencing violence or oppression, and creating and offering resource materials on religious leadership skills. Besides being a resource for its members, LCWR also provides information on religious leadership for the public. The conference has a rich history, with its origins rooted in the Conference of Major Superiors of Women, founded in 1956 at the request of the Vatican's Congregation for Religious.

In 1971, the name was changed to the Leadership Conference of Women Religious to better reflect its purpose and mission
