Learn Bird Care

Learn Bird Care is a New Zealand training organisation that helps people develop the skills to rescue, rehabilitate and release sick, injured or abandoned birds. Through practical education, it aims to make bird care more accessible and support a more professional approach to wildlife rehabilitation. The organisation has offered short courses and workshops in New Zealand since 2014 and expanded internationally with online courses in 2018.

Its learning options include face-to-face workshops, generally arranged on request and hosted by other organisations, as well as online training featuring quizzes, images and videos. A free introductory course helps newcomers understand why wildlife is rehabilitated, what resources and equipment are needed, and the responsibilities involved. Paid courses provide more extensive information and practical guidance for caring for wild birds, as well as sick pet and aviary birds.

Learn Bird Care also shares resources and knowledge with emerging rehabilitators, contributes time or course proceeds to workshop hosts, and offers free or reasonably priced learning opportunities.
