Learning Needs Library

Learning Needs Library Inc. is a Christchurch-based organisation that provides educational and therapeutic resources to support people with a wide range of sensory, physical, cognitive, language, emotional and learning needs. It serves families, adults, schools and other organisations, with a particular focus on people experiencing learning challenges. The library aims to promote development and enrich learning experiences by building on each individual’s strengths in a friendly, inclusive environment.

Members can hire from a collection of more than 2,300 resources, including sensory and movement equipment, puzzles, sorting activities, games and other learning tools. Featured items include body socks, a spin board, a rolling-ball shape sorter, a fishing set and a wooden fruit-and-vegetable sorting game. The organisation’s guiding principles are to stimulate, strengthen and support.

Learning Needs Library also welcomes donations and offers membership. Its service is based at 109 Huxley Street, Sydenham, Christchurch, and is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
