Lebensraum Lechtal

Lebensraum Lechtal e.V. is an organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the Lech River valley, a diverse landscape stretching from the Alps and the area around Neuschwanstein Castle to the plains between Augsburg and the Danube. It highlights the river’s roles as a habitat for plants and animals, a network connecting valuable natural areas, a place for recreation, and a natural reservoir during floods.

The organization works to preserve the valley’s distinctive habitats and support understanding of nature conservation. Its activities include landscape management, visitor guidance, conservation-focused grazing, volunteer workdays, and projects such as clearing gravel banks and promoting Lechtal lamb. It also offers environmental education, school partnerships, information about local wildlife and habitats, and resources for nature-friendly recreation. Visitors can explore walking routes, experience trails, museums, and other local points of interest, while guidance for paddlers encourages considerate use of the river.

Through its website, events, and field-based work, Lebensraum Lechtal e.V. invites residents and visitors to discover the Lech with care and encourages a fair relationship between people and nature.
