Les Amis du Bois des Buttes is an association dedicated to promoting awareness of a little-known First World War site on the Chemin des Dames in the Aisne region of France. Its work explores the events that made the Bois des Buttes a significant historic location, from the fighting of 1914 through the battles of 1916, 1917 and 1918. The association’s website serves as a detailed historical resource, bringing together accounts of military operations, regiments and individuals from French, German and British forces, alongside material about local civilians and the area’s wartime landscape.
Visitors can explore timelines, eyewitness testimony, military reports, portraits, photographs and information on monuments and postwar commemorations. The association also shares updates on its activities, including exhibitions, educational visits, publications and commemorative events. By documenting the site from multiple national and personal perspectives, Les Amis du Bois des Buttes helps preserve the memory of the people and events connected with this part of the Western Front and encourages public interest in its history
