Leerpunt is an independent knowledge centre established in 2022 to strengthen education by connecting scientific research with classroom practice. Its work promotes evidence-informed teaching, helping education professionals make considered decisions that support pupils’ learning and improve classroom practice. The organisation synthesises existing research, incorporates relevant Flemish studies and school-based examples, and identifies topics where further research is needed.
Leerpunt provides practical resources for teachers and schools, including toolkits on learning and teaching and on young children’s learning and development, accessible guides with research-based recommendations, teaching materials, videos, online learning modules, and practice stories and blogs. Its free LeerSnacks webinars and themed LeerBuffet series offer concise professional learning, while roundtables create opportunities for discussion with education professionals. Leerpunt also develops an evidence-informed education model and materials on approaches such as triangulation and multiperspectivism.
Other initiatives include a quality framework and label for learning materials, projects supporting broad basic care and enhanced support in schools, and “Every Child a Language Hero,” a programme to strengthen Dutch language development.
