Legacy Lactation and Childbirth Education provides compassionate, in-home support and education for expectant and new families in the Charlotte Metro and Fort Mill areas. Founded by Mellissa Willette, a family nurse practitioner, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, childbirth educator, and registered nurse with more than 20 years of obstetrical experience, the practice helps parents feel informed, confident, and supported through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.

Services include private lactation consultations and bottle-feeding assistance, with guidance for challenges such as latch difficulties, tongue ties, and suck training. Registered nurses also offer in-home postpartum and newborn assessments, as well as one-on-one newborn instruction covering practical care, safe sleep, swaddling, and bathing. Families can choose online newborn and breastfeeding classes, weekly or weekend childbirth education, or private labor classes at home. Classes address birth preparation, relaxation, labor positions, and postpartum topics, and encourage partners to participate. Legacy also provides a postpartum support group and downloadable resources, including a calorie-dense food plan for six-month-old babies who need additional support.
