About PLEIS NB
The Public Legal Education and Information Service of New Brunswick (PLEIS-NB) is a vital non-profit organization established in 1989 through a collaboration between the Law Reform Branch of the New Brunswick Department of Justice and the New Brunswick Law Society. Its mission is to provide accessible and trustworthy legal information to the public. Over the years, PLEIS-NB has developed an extensive range of resources, producing more than 300 publication titles in English and French, with some available in Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, and braille.
The organization offers a variety of services, including a Legal Information Line, Family Law Information Line, legal clinics for tenants, and family law workshops. Additionally, PLEIS-NB runs initiatives such as the Speakers’ Bureau and programs addressing abuse and violence, criminal law, small claims, and estate planning. By collaborating with government bodies and community organizations, PLEIS-NB aims to bridge the gap between the justice system and the public, ultimately enhancing access to justice for all New Brunswick residents.
