Legambiente Calabria

Legambiente Calabria A.P.S. is a regional environmental association working to protect and enhance Calabria’s natural and cultural heritage. Part of Legambiente, an Italian environmental organisation founded in 1980, it promotes practical action and public engagement to support a more sustainable and inclusive future.

Its work combines environmental research, education and advocacy. The association runs projects for schools, helping students and educators explore environmental issues and take part in positive change. It also invites residents to join local campaigns, events and volunteer activities, including beach and community clean-ups, tree planting and environmental education.

Legambiente Calabria’s campaigns address issues such as climate justice, marine and coastal protection, abandoned waste, illegal construction, pollution, fossil fuel extraction and disposable plastics. Other initiatives support welcoming communities and the preservation of small towns, local traditions and shared spaces. The organisation offers volunteer opportunities in Calabria and beyond, including camps for young people and projects in Italy and abroad. People can also become members, start a local group or donate to support its ongoing environmental work.
