About LegumeInfo
The Legume Information System (LIS) is a collaborative, community resource that brings together genetic, genomic, and trait information to support crop improvement research. It serves scientists studying a wide range of legumes and related species, including peanut, soybean, chickpea, pigeonpea, common bean, pea, cowpea, clover, alfalfa, and lupins, as well as other plants such as redbud and apple-ring acacia.
LIS provides online tools for searching genes and gene functions, exploring gene families and pangenes, comparing sequences and genotypes, and examining genome context, genetic maps, GWAS, QTL, expression, and germplasm data. Researchers can also use sequence-search and annotation resources, browse organized data overviews, and download datasets. Resources are arranged largely by genus to help users find relevant information efficiently.
The system is funded by the USDA Agricultural Research Service and developed and hosted by the National Center for Genome Resources alongside the USDA-ARS SoyBase and Legume Clade Database group, with contributions from other researchers. LIS also welcomes questions, suggestions, and community contributions.
