Developed with support from the DFG between 1974 and 1981, this encyclopedic collection spans four volumes and includes over 1,500 entries. Additionally, an attached index in Volume IV offers access to around 10,000 further names, covering influential figures from the historic empires of Byzantium, the Ottoman Empire, and the Habsburg Monarchy.

Now digitized through the University of Innsbruck, the project allows users to interactively explore this rich dataset.
