LEIFIchemie is a free German-language learning portal that supports chemistry teaching and study across school grades. Since January 1, 2025, the FWU – Das Medieninstitut der Länder has operated the LEIFI portals, including LEIFIchemie. The site organizes its educational content by chemistry topic, school grade, and German federal state, helping learners find materials aligned with their curriculum.

Its resources include explanatory articles, experiments and practical instructions, videos, exercises, simulations, and other reading materials. Topics range from introductory chemistry and the structure of matter to acids and bases, redox reactions, energetics, analytical methods, and organic chemistry. The portal connects scientific ideas with everyday examples, such as food, household substances, and seasonal activities, and encourages students to investigate questions through experiments and observations.

Learners can also create collections of articles and exercises and share them with others. LEIFIchemie’s content is continually expanded and updated, with new explanations, activities, and tasks designed to make chemistry accessible and engaging for students and teachers.
