Leikitellen

Puheterapiapalvelu Leikitellen is a speech therapy provider based in Helsinki, serving children in Helsinki and the wider capital region. It offers therapy as part of Kela’s demanding medical rehabilitation and to clients paying privately. The service is built around the idea that children learn through play, enjoyment and positive interaction, with encouragement and praise supporting their progress.

Therapy is tailored to each child’s needs and strengths. Goals are agreed in collaboration with parents or guardians and, where appropriate, people in the child’s everyday environment, such as daycare staff. Progress towards those goals is monitored. Sessions can support children in understanding and producing language, and may use augmentative and alternative communication methods, including pictures and key-word signs, when needed.

The practice is led by speech therapist Heidi Nurminen, who emphasizes attentive communication, meeting each child at an appropriate level, and encouraging participation, including for shy children. Leikitellen also values close cooperation with families and the child’s wider network to support development.
