About LEITI
Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (LEITI) is a crucial component of the global Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), dedicated to enhancing governance in the extractive sector in Liberia. LEITI operates under a multi-stakeholder arrangement involving the Government, Civil Society Organizations, and Private Companies to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of extractive resources. The EITI Standard, followed by LEITI, focuses on disclosing information regarding contracts, licenses, production, revenue collection, and allocation, contributing to economic development and poverty reduction.
Liberia, among 52 countries implementing the EITI Standard, annually publishes reports to ensure compliance and transparency. LEITI's mission is to promote resource transparency, proper revenue management, and monitor concessionaires' obligations for the benefit of all Liberians. The vision is to transparently utilize revenues to foster economic and social development and reduce poverty.
