Le Lion Vert

Le Lion Vert is a Paris-based study and artisanal workshop dedicated to collectible and precious books. It works with collectors, bibliophiles, families and institutions to understand, care for and pass on books valued for their rarity, history or personal significance. Each volume is examined as an object with its own story, using details such as its binding, paper, stitching, decoration, condition and marks of ownership to establish its history and distinctive qualities.

The workshop provides dating and provenance research, condition assessments, written descriptions and catalogue preparation. Conservation and restoration services include cleaning, stabilisation, structural repairs and preventive measures such as custom-made folders, cases and storage advice. Work respects original materials and the traces of a book’s history, aiming to preserve it rather than make it appear new.

For inherited libraries and established collections, Le Lion Vert also offers inventories, documentation and cataloguing to support their study and heritage value. It advises on transmission, including sale, donation, bequest, inheritance and deposit, helping clients make informed decisions about the future of their books.
