Lesbian Space Princess is the official movie brand for an animated science-fiction comedy blending fantasy, romance, and queer humor. The feature follows an introverted space princess who leaves her sheltered life on an intergalactic quest to rescue her bounty hunter ex-girlfriend from the Straight White Maliens. Her journey brings her face to face with drag queens, pop stars, and problematic spaceships, while she confronts her anxieties and discovers that saving the galaxy may begin with saving herself.
Written and directed by Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese, the 87-minute film stars Shabana Azeez, Bernie Van Tiel, Gemma Chua-Tran, Richard Roxburgh, Kween Kong, and Aunty Donna. Its playful identity pairs space adventure with glitter, jokes, and lesbian representation, drawing on the contrasting sensibilities of Rick and Morty and Sailor Moon.
The official site provides film information, a synopsis, filmmaker Q&A content, and Inter-Gay-Lactic email updates. It also directs audiences to digital viewing options including Apple TV, Amazon, Fandango at Home, and Google Play, and shares information about select theatrical screenings.
