Les Pâtes au Beurre

Les Pâtes au Beurre is a French association dedicated to preventing mental health difficulties and supporting the relationships between parents and children. Founded in 1999 by psychoanalyst Sophie Marinopoulos, it provides free, anonymous, walk-in spaces where families can talk through the challenges of parenting and family life. During two-hour sessions, parents and children are welcomed together by two mental health professionals, such as psychologists, psychomotor therapists or psychiatrists, each with at least five years of clinical experience. Parents may attend with or without their children, including adolescents, and there is no age limit.

The association coordinates a network of 21 local centres across France and also offers a nationwide telephone listening service, Le Fil des Pâtes au Beurre, with scheduled sessions staffed by psychologists. Its wider work includes accompanying families, connecting professionals who support them, and promoting “Santé Culturelle” to foster a more peaceful and supportive society. Les Pâtes au Beurre also shares resources and information with parents and professionals, advocates for family mental health prevention, and relies on donations to help maintain its free services.
