Les Ruches Pop

Les Ruches POP is a Paris-based association promoting urban beekeeping, biodiversity and environmental awareness through participatory, organic-minded practices. Its beekeeping activities are supported by trained volunteers, who manage two apiaries: one in Montreuil and a teaching-focused site at the Butte du Chapeau Rouge in Paris’s 19th arrondissement. The association offers educational workshops and apiary visits for school and after-school groups, as well as activities for the general public.

Sessions introduce participants to bees’ roles in pollination and the hive, honey production, and the work of beekeepers, using games and teaching materials. Visitors can observe bees safely through a glass-sided hive and sample honey from the association’s apiaries and local beekeepers. Les Ruches POP also runs honey-tasting workshops and provides educational resources for teachers.

At the Butte du Chapeau Rouge, its collective honey house offers Île-de-France beekeepers access to equipment and a dedicated room for extracting honey and preparing other hive products. The facility also hosts learning activities and encourages exchange around apiculture and ecology
