Le strade nella storia

Le Strade nella Storia is an association that creates historically focused journeys through Rome, Ponza, Ventotene and other locations in Lazio. Its approach treats places as “time machines,” connecting visitors with significant events through the streets, buildings and landscapes where history unfolded. The association offers structured itineraries that explore fascism and antifascism, political confinement, resistance, wartime occupation and collective memory.

In Rome, routes examine the city’s antifascist history, including the Jewish Ghetto roundup, Via Rasella, Via Tasso, the Fosse Ardeatine and resistance movements in the suburbs. On Ponza, visitors learn about the island’s role as a place of political confinement between 1928 and 1939. Ventotene itineraries explore its history as a site of exile for opponents of Mussolini’s regime. The programme also includes Anzio and the events surrounding the battle for Rome.

Journeys may combine guided historical exploration with local landscapes and cultural context. Le Strade nella Storia develops its itineraries with historians, university professors, local study centres, memory associations and historical museums.
