Lestrem Nature

Lestrem Nature is a French environmental association established under the 1901 law and approved by the Ministry of Ecology for work in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais departments. Based in the commune of Lestrem, it promotes the protection of wildlife, plants and natural habitats through research, public participation and environmental education.

The association conducts local biodiversity surveys, including four-season inventories and biodiversity atlases, and invites residents to share observations made in gardens, parks and the countryside. Since 2017, its community efforts have recorded more than 60,000 observations across 80 communes, documenting over 1,600 species with contributions from hundreds of observers.

Lestrem Nature also offers nature outings, conferences, school activities, garden visits and planting events. Its projects include pollinator protection, fruit trees, wildlife nest boxes and feeders, and guidance on cooking with wild plants. The association publishes educational materials and seasonal species information, and organises the Marché du Mieux Vivre. People can support its work by joining, taking part in activities or contributing biodiversity observations.
