The Levin Center for Oversight and Democracy at Wayne State University Law School advances effective governance, transparency, and democratic accountability by strengthening legislative oversight at every level of government. Continuing Senator Carl Levin’s commitment to bipartisan oversight, the Center helps lawmakers, researchers, students, and educators understand how legislative inquiry can uncover facts, address societal problems, and support solutions for the public.

Its programs and resources include congressional and state oversight workshops, boot camps, clerk training, online tutorials, and the State Oversight Academy. The Center also provides research tools such as a Congressional Oversight Records Database, case law library, state legislature oversight wiki, oversight manuals, and a library of publications and testimony. For scholars, it offers an oversight fellowship and a research award; for students and educators, it provides civic education materials, classroom resources, internships, and learning programs.
