Lewis Latimer House Museum is a cultural institution dedicated to preserving and celebrating the legacy of Lewis Howard Latimer, an African-American inventor and electrical pioneer. Born in 1848 to formerly enslaved parents, Latimer overcame tremendous obstacles to become a chief draftsman, patent expert, and inventor. He worked alongside renowned inventors such as Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison, making significant contributions to the development of the telephone and the commercialization of the incandescent light bulb.

The Lewis Latimer House Museum, a Queen Anne-style wood-frame suburban residence, was his home from 1903 until his death in 1928. Saved from demolition, the house now serves as a fully functional public institution offering primary research materials on Latimer's legacy and that of other innovators of color.
