Lebenshilfe Landesverband Hamburg e. V. is a parents’ and relatives’ association supporting people with disabilities since 1960. As part of the nationwide Lebenshilfe network, it works toward a society where people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds are welcomed, included and able to participate in every area of life. The association combines practical support with advocacy, promoting the rights of people with disabilities and representing inclusion in political and community forums.
Its services help individuals and families pursue greater independence and ease everyday pressures. These include social-pedagogical counselling, qualified and basic assistance, support in social psychiatry, school accompaniment, family support, and services for children and young people. The organisation also offers self-help groups, adult education, sports and music activities, and family-support services. Its projects address digital inclusion, accessible online information, health, and support for refugees with disabilities. Through its Office for Easy Language, Lebenshilfe Hamburg makes information more accessible and provides training. Members and participants can also join courses, events and community activities.
